yoga is not just a separate activity to drift in and out of.
When practiced on a regular bases yoga becomes a source of inner guidance and wisdom expressed in every day action you do and every word you say. Yoga is regarded as a way of life and provides us with a philosophy that has the potential to aid us in attaining liberation from the material world and union of the self with the Supreme Being. This can be achieved through a course of physical and mental discipline which will enhance the quality of a practitioner`s life.
The benefits of yoga are manifold and in short it can be said, that yoga enhances the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being of the practitioner. There are many different types and styles of yoga and they each are distinguished by their postures, breath, slow and rhythmic movements, philosophy and a combination of many other factors. The basic asanas and breathing exercises remain the same, how they are done, in what order and where attention is focused while doing them constitute the main differences among the many schools.
To me yoga is about slowing down, getting a connection with yourself again. Really starting to observe and to listen to yourself again, through your own breath and finding what is good for you. What feels good. I think this connection is starting to disappear in the modern world. By managing to master the physical asanas (postures) you bring yourself to the present moment. There should be a total focus during the practice, focus on the mind, body, soul and breath. Your practice should become a meditation.
You can and will start to see the progress soon, when you keep practicing. This applies not only to yoga but to everything you do.
You should be able to hold the pose comfortably for a long time. Physical poses should not be physical painful. Only you can tell the difference between the discomfort of a new pose and actual physical pain. All bodies are different and need different attention.
Regardless of your age or fitness level, you can find a style that will appeal to you and be most appropriate for your particular body or personality type. Yoga aims to expand the practitioner`s awareness during practice but also thoughout the daily life. You should always keep this in your mind and be aware of your actions and the underlying motivations for your action.
I invite you all to discover yoga and how to live yoga. Love yourself, love your day, love your life be happy and live with conciousness!
Please take care for yourself!
On a one month inner yoga journey you have enough time to excercise all this and transform into a butterfly.
